W structure – what ur understand of recent curriculum and assessment
In this assignment you are being asked to reflect on your own secondary education and what and how your discipline as taught? What do you think was the view of education that drove the curriculum, pedagogy and assessment you experienced? What has changed, what needs to change to engage more student? Eg: very clearly when I did Maths at school it was driven by the need to select out students who wouldn’t do pure maths in year 12. It was designed to sort- and it sorted on class and gendered lines. This drove what was taught, how it was taught and how it was assessed.
Real world connections
Not just getting a job, but also about engaging with the world through the knowledge and s******s of your discipline. What world are you bringing your students into though the knowledge and s******s of your discipline? What real world perspectives influences what you can do in the classroom? Eg: There is a current discussion about the “feminisation” of Physics. Those who believe that teaching science is about qualifying students for following a vocational pathway to University want science in secondary school to prepare potential students with the knowledge and s******s to study at University, they believe that the emphasis on discussing world events comes at the expense of The other side of this is that teaching of science should be to engage all students in the knowledge and s******s to participate in contemporary scientific discussion. At the same time there are programs to increase number of young women in STEM field.
—— bring what we learn to the world where we using and involve everyday
Curriculum Documents
What do the Curriculum Documents tell us about the position of your discipline in general secondary education? What is valued in the curriculum? Is “theory” valued over practice? Does a “text” based assessment drive what knowledge and s******s are taught. Eg: the Australian curriculum doesn’t dictate how your discipline is taught or assessed but the amount of content that need to be “got through” might lend itself to a particular form of teaching. Assessment practices in the Arts might put more emphasis on critique rather than creation.
——
Maths:
Engage all young ppl in math conversation as the way of understanding the world … what u teach, how u teach and how u assess it … choices has been make by curriculum in researc

FIND A SOLUTION  AT  AmericanWritingHelp.com

Sustainable Waste Management within the UK
In recent years there has been increasing scientific evidence that human activity is having an adverse impact on the environment, such aswith the excessive production of waste and resulting pollution (Bebb & Kersey, 2003)which causes . . ..Waste is defined as ‘any material by-product of human and industrial activity that has no residual value’ (Tam, 2011)and is where bothgovernment and industry see opportunities to reduce one of the sources of global warming through the implementation of waste management strategies(Bebb & Kersey, 2003).
Every year the construction Industry within the UK contributes 24% of the total landfill waste generated with 13% of this being unused materials (UK Green Building Council , 2015). For this reason Waste Management is a fundamental aspect of sustainability within construction as by controlling waste generation it is possible to reduce the amount of pollutants being released, in addition to through landfill as well as reduce the costs associated within the building and operating of the project (Gray, 2013).
Strength
Through the successful implementation of a Waste Management plan, project managers can oftenreduce the amount of waste being created within the project and the amount sent to Landfill. Both the Environment Agency and academics believe the plan focuses the construction company into understanding the quantity of waste generated and  enable everyone within the company from the top down to be focused on the same goals such as the reuse, recycle or reduce concept(Tam, 2011).
Johnston et Al (1995)states that waste could become a potential source of profit and a financial benefit. As well as reducing the amount of waste going to landfill there will be a reduction in costs on the project due to lower landfill taxes. It is also possible to recover costs by selling waste such as scrap metal, the contractor can offset construction costs, which can intern make them more competitive(Tam, 2011).
A good example of sustainable waste management being effectively used is in the case of the M&S store where the company achieved zero waste within the operations?.Right from the beginning a strategy was implemented in how to remove waste through the selective use of specification of materials?and the construction phase. An example was the decision to cast the hemcrete cladding on site removed the 10% wastage that in-situ would havecaused(Building, 2012). This project illustrates that through successful management of the project phasesthe elimination of waste can be realised as well of the reduction in embodied emissions when supplying new materials(WRAP, 2011).

Weakness
Teo et al(2010) argues that for too long waste management has focused on the construction practices and processes but overlooks the critical human attitudes. For an industry that is labour intensive, how people perceive the importance of waste management is a definitive decider over its success, in particular how the Project Manager conveys this message.  Karem et al(2015) makes note that the success over waste reduction is down to the project manager ability to value waste reduction as importantly as construction materials ordered. This therefore illustrates how attitudes and values within construction are just as critical as legislation. Therefore the government should focus more towards educating the Project Managers.
Furthermore, implementation of sustainable waste management can be bureaucratic and costly A relevant piece of legislation that construction projects within the UK have had to adhere to has been the  Waste Management Plans Regulations 2008 (SWMP), whichobliged projects over £300,000 to plan how much waste the project was to produce and where it would go. For some within the industry this was considered a burden and bureaucraticand too often left out the design stage(Outlaw, 2013). Keys et al (2001)supports the fact that design stage is a critical stage whereby waste can often be eliminated and opportunities should be taken.  Hence in February 2015 this legal requirement was scrapped with the aim to make it more flexible to each project. The project team along with the Project Manager can now structure the waste management plan on the dependencies within each project, which can often be unique and unpredictable (Teo & Loosemore, 2010).However it should be noted that whilstShen et al(2002) argue the lack of government enforcement has been a barrier for sustainable waste management, this current government is trying to remove this.
Future Situations
Over the last few years the importance of sustainability within construction industry has grown to be…

Original essay on: Recent discussion board posts about the methodology

FIND A SOLUTION  AT  AmericanWritingHelp.com

Recent discussion board posts about the methodology
I just made this post on the forum about the methodology, but I reproduce part of it here as I know some people don’t read the posts.
This week we looked into the methodology, what it is for, and how you will be going about it in this course. The methodology is for proving (or disproving) the group’s claim/postulate. Your methodology outlines exactly how you will go about this proof. One important aspect of it is the reproducability of the proof – someone who reads your research paper should be able to assess the validity of your postulate or claim and reach the same conclusions as you do using the same methodology. If you were doing some form of experimental assessment, this would involve describing the experimental steps and what each should achieve, and what parameters there are for the experiment. Then another person can come along and do the same experiment with the same parameters, maybe even the same input data, and would achieve the same results. The importance of this reproducability can be seen in the 1989 claim that cold fusion was a possible source of abundant, cheap energy, but their experiments could not be reproduced by many other scientists. This led to the eventual conclusion that cold fusion was not a workable idea, at least in the form that the original claimant had proposed.
Here is another question and answer about the methodology:
If the answer is the sub question, do we still have to explicitly say that it is answered by the sub questions?
Yes please do. In fact, don’t just say that the subquestions will answer the question, but give a sentence or two to explain how you arrived at those subquestionsfor the purpose of answering the question. Then go on to the subquestions.
The methodology is essentially a formal specification (although written in natural language), so there should be no room for ambiguity or misinterpretation.
Mark and I have been asked how many research questions and sub-questions you should be aiming for in the methodology.
You need to consider the amount of work required to answer each question or subquestion. I recommend that if there are five people in the group, choose four questions or subquestions, allocating one to one person. The fifth person can take the role of editor and writer, collating the materials, ensuring the Research paper meets the criteria and submitting it. The fifth person can also act as a stand-in should there be some illness or other problem with one of the other members. This means that the question or subquestion each person addresses must be achievable in the timescale of the Research paper assignment.
THE THEME IS CITIZEN JOURNALISM.
The topic or question mine was “HOW CREDIBLE ARE THE NEW AND TRADITIONAL MEDIA FOR PEOPLE AND JOURNALISTS”.
You have to create methodology for this question with many sub questions under it.
This leads to another point, and that is that if the submitted methodology indicates additional areas that your group will not have time to work on, it is reasonable to move the un-addressed questions to a ‘future work’ part of the Conclusions. If this is the case, the methodology that is put into the paper should be modified to either leave out the missing parts, or an explanation can be written that the questions are included for completeness but are out of scope of this particular Research paper.
Thanks to those who raise these questions.
